Our Story
Established by A.W. Cole prior to 1918, Woodstock Eye Clinic stands as the oldest optometry practice in Woodstock. Initially situated at 504 Dundas Street, adjacent to the current City Hall.
Over the years the practice has changed hands several times. In 1962 it was entrusted to Dr. David Buck. Then in 1976, Dr. John Jantzi briefly assumed responsibility for the practice. Following his graduation from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 1977, Dr. G. R. Burton acquired the practice from Dr. Jantzi. In 1983 the practice was relocated to its present address at 500 Princess Street. Over the course of 46 years, Dr. Burton successfully managed and operated the clinic.
In 2022, a new chapter unfolded as Dr. Vassilev joined Woodstock Eye Clinic, carrying forward the legacy and commitment to eye care excellence.

Dr. Stephanie Vassilev
Dr. Vassilev graduated with honours from the University of Waterloo Optometry program in 2015. With a commitment to providing exceptional eye care, she has cultivated a rich professional experience in diverse locations, including Lindsay, Oshawa, Courtice, Vaughn, and the VA Hospital in Detroit, further enhancing her expertise and contributing to the well-being of a wide range of patients.
In her free time she likes to spend time with her three young children, go on walks, read books and travel.
Angela
Optometric Assistant
Angela entered the industry in 2018 after completing the Medical Office Administration program and joined our team in 2022. Her daily focus is greeting and assisting patients, helping with direct billing and a lot of administrative work behind the scenes.In her personal time, she enjoys crafting, travelling and spending time with her two beautiful girls and her family.
Lisa, CCOA
Optometric Assistant
Lisa is a Certified Optometry Assistant that has been employed in the Optical industry since 1999 during which time has developed a passion to educate patients in frame and lens selection. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends playing board games.
Joanne
Joanne is a former Canadian Army veteran who also served as a Chief Clerk for the Armoured Reconnaissance Unit. In 2003 she decided to join the clinic originally training to be the office manager with Dr. Burton but as new testing technologies emerged she made the switch to Optometric Assistant which she continues to this day. In her spare time Joanne loves to cook and spend time with her family.
Ada
Ada joined our team in 2023. She has worked in the health care field since 2014. Her daily focus is greeting and assisting patients, and helping with direct billing. In her spare time she enjoys spending time outdoors and travelling with her three daughters and her family.
